Thibodaux, Louisiana-native Connie Harris began her extensive career in decorative arts more than 30 years ago after leaving her management position at a small medical practice. She initially focused on hand-painted tiles, and for years, she created handcrafted backsplashes and unique bathroom scapes all while raising three boys.

 

As tiles’ trendiness faded, she began to experiment with other mediums. By the late-1990s, her works were nearly all a form of faux finishes.

 

Faux, a style of decorative painting, has been around for thousands of years. Nearly any surface, both in- and outdoors, can become a faux-styled work. From sheetrock walls to canvas to stone, Connie’s able to create works of art on just about anything, transforming a once blank space into a truly special piece of art.

 

Connie prides herself on working fast and smart while paying attention to detail in the world of decorative painting and faux finishing. Each unit of her work remains entirely original, customizing it to her clients’ needs.

 

In addition to traveling the world creating for her clients, she shares her secrets and skills with aspiring artists and entrepreneurs, teaching classes out of her St. Gabriel, Louisiana, home.
